It’s hard to tell but the wheels look like they could be the factory 3-spoke alloys, which would mean it has a 3.0 Ford Vulcan.

I didn’t know the older body style ever could be had with a V6. I thought they were either mazda turbo or mazda non-turbo.

Yep. The only reason I know that is from owning a 1st gen LX and a 2nd gen GT. ‘89 was GL (2.2 non turbo) and GT (2.2 turbo). ‘90-92 was the same with the addition of the LX with the 3.0 V6.
